While the country of Burnei is relatively small in size, the official residence of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, located on the banks of the Brunei River is the largest residence in the world. The name of the home, Istana Nurul Iman, means “Palace of the Light of Faith” in Persian.

At over 2,100,000 square feet, this monster palace features an incredible 1,788 rooms, 257 bathrooms (no more queueing), a mosque for 1,500 worshipers, a banquet hall that can entertain 5,000 guests, five pools swimming pools, stables for the 200 horses and a 110-car garage for his collection of vehicles.

To put this into perspective for you, the average UK home is around 900 square feet, meaning you could fit 2391 of our houses inside this single hyper-home!

We’ve no homes of this size (at the moment) but if you’re looking for a property or have one to sell or let please call us on 0114 2413430 to discuss how we can help you.
